My wonderful hubby got me a Cinch, for those of you that don’t know, it’s a machine that punches holes and binds books. Every scrapbooker should have one, it’s a great tool! Future posts to come using the cinch…
I wanted to show you some of the gifts that we made the last few weeks for Christmas. Now that Christmas it’s over I can post them here. They were a lot of work, but worth it in the end. I really love how they turned out. Now I need to make some for myself.
The candlesticks I gave to my mom and sister. We bought newel posts from Lowes and chopped them down to a size I liked. We also bought some square bases from Lowes and screwed them into the bottoms. Then with a good sanding, layer of paint, some more sanding, another layer of paint and lastly a clear coat, this was the end result.
For the candles I used this techinque that I found one night of web browsing. It’s sooo cool. I added some swarovski crystals to the diamond ones to give a little more pizzaz.
The magnet boards were fairly simple. We cut and routered the wood at my father in-laws shop. He also cut some sheet metal to the size needed. I covered the sheet metal with fabric using a really good glue called ‘The Ultimate’. Added the vinyl. When I had all the components done, it was really fast assembly.
There you have it… This year was a year of homemade gifts!
